Mother's Day is looking a bit brighter this year as the Chicagoland area is on track for reopening. Take this opportunity to celebrate with the most important people in your life while also supporting your local restaurants. From the city to the suburbs, we've rounded up some great options that offer something for every type of mom.

The Adventurous Mom

WhirlyBall has locations in Chicago, Naperville and Vernon Hills.

Families looking to treat Mom to a day of activities this Mother’s Day need to look no further than their local WhirlyBall. With locations in Chicago, Naperville and Vernon Hills, WhirlyBall is offering a Mother’s Day BOGO special in which patrons who buy an hour of any activity get a half hour activity of their choice FREE. Activities range from Bowling, HyperBowling and LaserTag to WhirlyBall, Ping Pong, Giant Connect Four and Giant Jenga. The special is available via private party booking only and reservations are required. In between activities, families can dine from The Pivot Room’s chef-driven menu featuring fresh takes on classic American fare, a rotating craft beer selection and refreshing cocktails.

The Brunch-Loving Mom

Breakfast Pizza at Rewired Pizza Bar and Cafe

New to the Edgewater neighborhood, Rewired Pizza Cafe and Bar (1100 W Thorndale), will host a Mother's Day Sunday Brunch with live entertainment from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All moms who dine on Rewired's specialities like Chicken & Waffles or house made Biscuits & Chorizo Gravy will receive a complimentary rose. Guests can pair brunch with cocktails including Mimosas, Kir Royale, Bellinis, Micheladas and Bloody Marys. In the North Center neighborhood, local favorite The Rambler Kitchen + Tap (4128 N Lincoln Ave) will offer complimentary mimosas for all moms with the purchase of a brunch item on Sunday, May 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other specials include $20 bottomless mimosas paired with a la carte brunch items like a BYO Omelette Menu or the Turtle French Toast with two slices of pound cake French toast, stuffed then topped with rich chocolate, caramel, chocolate chips, crushed pecans and fresh whipped cream. For the suburbanites, Scratchboard Kitchen in Arlington Heights (5 W. Campbell St) is a must visit. Serving Mother's Day brunch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., guest can indulge in Executive Chef Grace Goudie's Ambrosia Salad with chamomile mascarpone cheese, seasonal fruit and granola, Avocado Toast with radishes, ramps, purple asparagus and everything seasoning, or a Crab Omelette with curry hollandaise and herbs. Reservations can be made online for indoor or outdoor dining on the patio via Tock.

For those looking to stay at home, Scratchboard Kitchen will also offer Take and Bake Brunch Kits To-Go. The $100 brunch kit serves four people with options like Yogurt Parfaits with granola, chia seeds and strawberry-coconut jam, Asparagus, Bacon, and Leek Rosti featuring eggs filled with asparagus, bacon and leeks, topped with fontina and goat cheeses baked into a crispy potato crust, Baked French Toast with Scratchboard’s homemade biscuits turned into French toast, served with maple syrup, and Mini Rhubarb and Cardamom Scones. The Chicago History Buff Mom

For the mom who has a ton of city pride, a true Chicago-style treat is the perfect option. Bartoli's Pizzeria with locations in Roscoe Village (1955 W. Addison St) and West Town (658 N. Ashland Ave) serves up original deep dish and tavern-style pies. All customers who mention “Mother’s Day” when placing an order of $30 or more will receive a complimentary dessert for Mom. Mom can choose from options including Cannoli, Eli’s Cheesecake, Tiramisu or Brownie. Supplies are limited. Pick up and delivery only. One per customer. The Wine Connoisseur Mom

Uvae Kitchen & Wine Bar in Andersonville (5553 N Clark St) will offer their signature Sunday Brunch Menu for Two to-go. The $50 package includes a bottle of cava, trio of house made purees, Nutella croissants, brioche French toast, and an asparagus and goat cheese omelet.
