NEW LENOX, IL – New Lenox commuters who use the Metra Rock Island line to get back and forth to work or to neighboring communities will need to adjust their travel plan just a bit beginning Thursday due to a construction project.

The project, which runs through July 2, will close the west-side pedestrian crosswalks and platforms that sit west of the crosswalk, Metra officials announced on social media on Wednesday.

Commuters will need to use the east-side pedestrian crosswalk to access the in-service platforms, Metra officials wrote in the post. Commuters should allow for extra travel time to account for the construction and should use caution in waking near the work areas.
