ILLINOIS — Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer in Illinois, and this year, many residents will mark the new season with a three-day weekend filled with memorial services, outdoor events and backyard barbecues.
At this point, your weekend is likely planned to a T. But, as most of us know, Mother Nature could always step in and ruin that carefully outlined itinerary with a trifecta of rain, storms and cloudy skies.
So far, Illinois looks as if it will avoid a gloomy meteorological fate, according to the most recent forecast for our area. The National Weather Service is calling for a warm and dry Memorial Day weekend.

However, as you head home from work Friday evening, you can expect some blustery and wet weather as a storm system leaves the area. The high for Friday is expected to be 57 degrees.

By Saturday, the sun will be shining, and the high will be 64 degrees, according to the weather service. Sunday will be even warmer with a high of 71, and Monday has an expected high of 74 degrees, according to the forecast.

According to the Accuweather forecast, the weekend will be sunny and dry. Saturday's high will be 59 degrees, Sunday has a high of 69 degrees, and Monday a high of 75.
