TAWANI Property Management Hospitality Extends Cabin Fever Promotion at Rogers Park Properties
The origins of the term "Cabin Fever" are murky, but it likely dates back to the early 1900s in North America. Simply put, Cabin fever is irritability, listlessness, and other similar symptoms resulting from long confinement or isolation indoors, especially during the winter. Many Chicagoans may be suffering from this affliction earlier than usual this winter in light of the pandemic. When a person is stuck at an isolated location or in confined quarters for an extended time, it can have pronounced psychological effects on people. Cabin fever is real. According to Lisa Fritscher and Steven Gans, MD, "Cabin fever is not a specific diagnosis, but rather a constellation of symptoms that can occur under these circumstances."
Not everyone suffering from cabin fever will experience the same symptoms, but many people report feeling intensely irritable or restless. If cabin fever is severely impacting you, one option is to seek counseling. However, for less profound symptoms, there are some active steps you can take before you succumb to acute cabin fever. The most straightforward remedy is to get out of your house!
One local business, TAWANI Property Management Hospitality, has taken its Cabin Fever promotion to new levels this year by offering deeply discounted, private rentals of its historic homes in Rogers Park. Additionally, the hospitality team has made many adjustments to its operations to uphold the highest safety level for both staff and guests. This includes a full 36-hours between guests so that each home is thoroughly disinfected according to CDC guidelines, which include a period of time in which the houses are empty and the disinfectant is allowed to work most effectively.

"We are delighted to extend our promotion through March and provide a safe place for guests to remedy their Cabin Fever," noted Carmen Korleski, Director of TAWANI Hospitality Operations. "The savings are 35% off our already affordable winter rates," she added.
These architecturally significant properties provide an extraordinary experience for guests. By offering the Cabin Fever special through the end of March, more families can experience the grandeur of staying in Frank Lloyd Wright's Emil Bach House in Chicago. Lang House Chicago, located next door, is also included in TAWANI Hospitality's Cabin Fever promotion.

Lang House Chicago, designed in 1919 by Edgar M. Newman, who had worked for a number of years for the well-known Chicago architecture firm Adler & Sullivan, was originally built as a part of a development called the Birchwood Beach Estates. The lots were marketed as a "country club beach style getaway" and enjoyed lakefront views. Another Adler & Sullivan alum, Frank Lloyd Wright, had built the Emil Bach House next door just four years earlier.
Construction of the Emil Bach House was completed in 1915 and remained virtually unchanged through the 1940s. The home was initially designed as a lakefront property for the Bach family in the lightly settled area north of Chicago and south of Evanston, IL, now called Rogers Park. It went through substantial changes starting in 1959, led by several owners over time. When TAWANI purchased the property, a thorough restoration of the home was undertaken, to revert the home to its original design as much as possible, while adding modern amenities such as efficient heating and cooling and a functional kitchen and bathrooms. TAWANI reopened the home in 2013, to serve as a vacation and event rental for the public to enjoy.
Take advantage of the opportunity to immerse yourself and your family in history this winter. Instead of staying glued to the news and keeping noses buried in smartphones and computers, make a conscious effort to prevent Cabin Fever and try something new. Enjoy playing games in one of the homes' studies or indulge in a good book and a cup of tea in the Japanese Tea House at the Emily Bach House.
