'Brief Tornado' Risk, Severe Storm Threat On Monday: IL Weather
Storms, possibly severe, are most likely between 4 and 10 p.m. Monday.
ILLINOIS — Severe thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon, with limited risk of large hail and a brief tornado, according to the National Weather Service. Storms will start to move into the Chicago area Monday afternoon and evening, and some storms could become strong to severe.
Damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph are the primary threat, the weather service said.
Far south of Chicago could see lightning strikes, heavy downpours, hail, and a tornado or two, according to the weather service. Areas closer to Chicago, like Joliet, DeKalb, Elgin and Waukegan, could see lightning strikes, heavy downpours and gusts causing minor tree damage.

Storms are most likely between 5 and 10 p.m., the weather service said. Monday is expected to have a high of 76 degrees.
