Snow On Friday, Rain Wednesday In Illinois: Weather Service

Scattered snow showers are possible on Friday, and rain will likely hit Wednesday night.

ILLINOIS ? The Chicago area is likely to see its first flakes of snow as scattered snow showers are likely on Friday and possibly on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

A fall storm will bring cooler temps to the area, as well as rain on Wednesday night into Thursday, the weather service said. While Wednesday has a high of 60 degrees, Thursday has a high of 55 and Friday only a high of 44 degrees.

The colder temperatures will also continue into the weekend, and Saturday has a high of 40 and Sunday a high of 39 degrees, according to the weather service.

Rain is likely on Thursday morning, and it will be windy on Thursday and Friday with gusts up to 40 mph, according to the weather service. Scattered snow showers are expected Friday, with brief, poor visibility possible under heavier snow showers, the weather service said. Pavement accumulations are unlikely with Friday's snow showers.

The chance of snow returns late Saturday and throughout the day on Sunday, according to the weather service.
