ILLINOIS — After several days of cooler weather, some summer-like warmth will hit the Chicago area this week. According to the National Weather Service, temps will warm into the 80s by the end of the week, rising to 87 degrees by Friday.

The Chicago area will hit the 80s by Wednesday, which has a high of 82, according to the weather service. Once again, a few storms are possible Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Thursday has a high of 85, and again, storms are possible, mainly west of I-39, according to the weather service. Friday will be the warmest day of the week, with a high of 87, and it should remain partly cloudy.

Although rain is in the forecast this week, northern Illinois is actually drier than normal, according to the weather service. For precipitation totals for spring (March - May) Chicago has received 2.32 inches of precipitation, which is 6.1 inches below normal. Rockford has received 4.27 inches of precipitation, which is 3.74 inches below normal.
