ILLINOIS — Seasonably cool temperatures are expected this week, as well as mostly dry, partly cloudy days, according to the National Weather Service forecast. The only chance for rain is a few showers Monday, which has a high of 63 degrees.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday all look to be dry with highs in the upper 50s, according to the weather service forecast. It will be cooler along the lakeshore, but Tuesday will have a high of 59, Wednesday a high of 54 and Thursday a high of 59.

On its Twitter, the National Weather Service of Chicago said it has been a quiet severe weather season in the area so far this year. 2021 is the seventh slowest start to the severe weather season since 1950, and slowest since 1987.

According to weather service data, northern Illinois and northwest Indiana typically see 32 days with severe weather every year. May, June and July are typically the most active months.
