These IL Eateries Among Best New Restaurants In America, New List Says

CHICAGO, IL ? Two eateries in Chicago are among the best new restaurants in America, Esquire said in a new list released Monday.

In its report, Esquire said the 33 restaurants on the list offer ?spectacular food ? coupled with a damn good time.?

?These are the places you hate to leave, but when you do, you leave full,? the outlet said. ?Full of some of the most deeply personal food you can remember eating, full of joy and ideas and hope. You stumble out, way past your bedtime, practically dancing in the street.?

Chicago Indian and Mexican fusion restaurant Mirra marries the two cuisines of the two cultures so that one bite spans the globe, Esquire wrote. The restaurant pays homage to its namesake, a woman named Mirra, known as La China Poblana, who was born a princess in India before she was kidnapped by pirates and brought to Mexico.

Chefs Rishi Kumar and Zubair Mohajir were named Eater Chicago's 2024 Chefs of the Year, and the restaurant recently received a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide.

Esquire has named Pizz'Amici the "true champion" of tavern style pizza, one of Chicago's well known styles. With a line usually overflowing from the building and down the street, the pizzeria's signature thin crust pie with zingy yet sweet tomato sauce topped with a provolone and mozzarella mix, is just perfect.

Restaurants on the list are found in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
