Want To Buy A Brewery? Argus For Sale On Craigslist, $2.5 Million
Argus Brewery's historic building in Pullman, brewing equipment, intellectual property is listed for sale on Craigslist for $2.5 million.

PULLMAN — Argus Brewery's historic building stocked with all the gear you need to brew 10,000 barrels a year can be yours for $2.5 million, according to a Craigslist post.
Argus, a father-and-son brewery, shut down for good earlier this year after a 10-year run when economic complications from the coronavirus crisis proved fatal for the award-winning brewery.
The 9,700 square-foot building originally built to house the Joseph E. Schlitz Distribution Stables, which delivered lard-lined buckets of beer in horse-drawn wagons, is billed as a "perfect turnkey operation." The property in the 11300 block of Front Street includes brewery equipment, furniture, a delivery vehicle and the brewery's "intellectual properties," according to the post.

Owner Bob Jensen told Patch in April that the coronavirus crisis came at an especially difficult time for the World Beer Cup award-winning brewery.
"There was market downturn, and we had distributors that weren't salesmen. They're just order takers and, you know, it's kind of a shame," Jensen said.

"Then, the keg beer sales dried up when the bars and restaurants closed. That was a big part of our business. I didn't want to lay off everybody, but I didn't see another way out for a couple years at least. There comes a point where you have to be financially responsible to myself and the family. We gave it the old college try. It was a fun 10-year adventure."
Jensen said rather than sell off the brewing equipment, he's offering the complete package for sale. The brewery is located in an area that qualified for federal opportunity zone grants, according to the Craigslist post.
"If someone wants to get into the craft brewing business there's everything there to do it, and room to expand production," Jensen said.
