'Wanted for Armed Robbery and Disarming of a Chicago Police Officer'

Suspect taken into custody this morning after officer's pistol, star and cell phones were taken in a weekend street robbery.

CHICAGO, IL — One of three men wanted for the armed robbery of a Chicago Police officer Saturday night is in custody Wednesday morning, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report.

The 18-year-old man was armed when police stopped him as he drove a black Ford Fusion in the 1400 block of North Halsted Street at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, sources told Ashlee Rezin, reporting for the Sun-Times. The trio made their getaway in that vehicle after the Saturday night robbery in Lake View.

The men, in their late teens to 20s, took the officer's firearm, police star, cell phones, and keys, according to police, even after the cop announced his office.

This was the first of two weekend crimes in which Chicago cops were victimized. Early on Sunday, another police officer was shot at as he drove home from the overnight shift in Bridgeport on the South Side.
