CHICAGO, IL — While many Chicago residents were celebrating the Fourth of July holiday Wednesday, Chance the Rapper was celebrating a much more personal event. The Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist became engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Kirsten Corley.

Chance, a Chicago native, proposed to Corley on Wednesday during an outdoor barbecue, and video of the proposal was posted on The Shade Room, an Instagram-based celebrity and entertainment news outlet. He popped the question by asking, "Kirsten Katrina Corley, will you make me a man and be my wife?"

Although Corley's response isn't heard in the video, the rapper revealed her answer elsewhere online. "She said yes," he wrote in a post on his Twitter feed that also included an emoji of connected chain links.
