Weekend In The 90s Before Temps Drop On Monday In Illinois

There could be storms on Friday evening, mostly south of I-80, and there is a chance for storms again on Sunday.

ILLINOIS — The weekend will be hot and humid before a sharp drop in temperatures on Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Saturday and Sunday both have highs of 91 degrees, and there is a chance of storms on Sunday.

Storms are also expected Friday evening, especially south of Interstate 80, according to the weather service forecast. With the hot and humid conditions, storms could be severe with damaging winds and hail.

The best chance of storms will be south of I-80 after 4 p.m. Friday, the weather service said on its Twitter. Additional storms could arrive after dark, but many areas will stay dry.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with gusts up to 15 mph, according to the weather service forecast. The chance of storms returns on Sunday, mainly after 1 p.m. Gusts could also be as high as 20 mph.

After a weekend in the 90s, temperatures will drop back to the 70s on Monday, which has a high of 79 degrees, according to the weather service. Storms are also possible on Monday during the day.
