After Joliet Armed Robbery, 2003 Buick LeSabre Faces Civil Forfeiture: Glasgow
On July 7, in the 800 block of Joliet's Richmond Street, the Buick LeSabre was used in the commission of an armed robbery, prosecutors say.

JOLIET, IL ? One of the key tasks for some members of the Will County State's Attorney's Office is to pursue civil forfeitures involving money or vehicles used or obtained during the commission of a crime. One of the newest civil forfeiture filings from this week involves a 2003 Buick LeSabre that prosecutors say was involved in a Joliet armed robbery crime from July 7.
According to the forfeiture complaint, Officer Long of the Joliet Police Department was assisting fellow officers responding to a crime victim who was jumped.
That person told the officer that he had set up to purchase cannabis from a person only known to him by an Instagram handle of "_Callmetwin_." The victim said he met with the person in front of his residence and near a red Chevrolet sedan.

When he inquired about the cannabis, one person exited a vehicle and went to the trunk and retrieved a Glock handgun and told him, "Give him everything," the court files show. When the victim tried to return to his house, two more people exited the red sedan, and four more people exited the 2003 Buick LeSabre. The victim later told Joliet police that several of the people had guns and they struck his body and his head several times.
The robbers managed to take the victim's handbag, which contained $300 and a vial of his father's ashes as they sped off in two vehicles with the Buick going west on Richmond Street.

According to the forfeiture, Officer Neven used Joliet's Flock camera system to track down the Buick LeSabre as Officers Wyss and Espinosa found it at the Mobil gas station at Theodore and Broadway Streets. A total of four people were inside the vehicle when Joliet police arrived on the scene.
The four were detained and positively identified by the victim. According to the Joliet police vehicle inventory, Officer Shaughnessy recovered a live .40-caliber bullet, a backpack containing one suspect's state identification and multiple individually wrapped bags of marijuana.
This week's forfeiture filing asks Will County's judges to declare the 2003 Buick LeSabre to be forfeited and either sold at a public auction, destroyed or delivered to a law enforcement agency here in the state of Illinois. The vehicle is registered to a Romeoville resident, Kemarionte Terry, according to the complaint.
A court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 24.
