Alleged Thieves Steal Packages from People in Joliet, Plainfield, Crest Hill

Contact Joliet police if you believe your packages have been stolen.

JOLIET, IL — A few package thieves received an unwanted gift from the Joliet Police Department: an arrest.

Joliet Police Department Captain Jeff Allbert told The Herald-News that package thefts have been an ongoing problem and that the department has made it a priority to have plainclothes officers in unmarked vehicle.

Mariay Glover, 18, of Crest Hill, Alfredo Montoya, 21, of Crest Hill, Andre Valerio, 19, of Crest Hill and Deontre Davenport, 21, of Madison, Wisconsin, were taken into custody after a neighbor called in and described the car, according to the report. All four were later charged with one count of theft and 10 counts of criminal trespassing.

Packages were found addressed to people in Plainfield, Joliet and Crest Hill. Packages were also stolen from the 2600 block of Frontier Lane, the 3700 block of Thoroughbred Lane, the 3700 block of Indian Head Lane and the 2600 block of Sumac Drive in Joliet; the 25000 block of Parkside Drive in Plainfield; and the 16000 block of Heron Street, and the 16000 and 21000 blocks of Zausa Drive in Crest Hill, according to the report.

There are still packages that have not been returned and anyone missing a package can contact Joliet police at 815-724-3010.
