JOLIET, IL — For the second week in a row, the Joliet Fire Department extinguished a burning house on the city's west side. Last week's fire left a 57-year-old Joliet woman dead in the 800 block of Black Road. No one was home when Wednesday's fire broke out mid-morning on Ross Street, which is between Highland Avenue and Clement Street.

The Joliet Fire Department arrived at the scene of 555 Ross St. around 10:25 a.m.

"Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and fire throughout the residence," Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey informed Joliet Patch. "No occupants were home at the time of the fire. The home is uninhabitable and the cause is under investigation."
