ATV Rider Identified By Coroner: Joliet Man, 48, Died Fleeing Illinois State Police On I-55
The man died after crashing his ATV while traveling the wrong way on I-55, state police said.

JOLIET, IL ? Will County's Coroner Laurie Summers has identified 48-year-old Timothy Barten of Joliet as being the man who died during a collision on his ATV while authorities say he was fleeing from the Illinois State Police on Interstate 55 near Black Road.
The coroner announced that Barten was pronounced dead at 5:30 a.m. Saturday along I-55 southbound at mile marker 235 in Troy Township, the result of a motor vehicle crash.
She noted that the Illinois State Police are investigating the crash. An autopsy was performed on Sunday and the final cause and manner will be determined following the autopsy, police and toxicological reports.

State police previously announced that troopers were called before 5 a.m. to investigate someone illegally driving an ATV along Interstate 55 near Route 30. Police found the ATV, and said the driver sped away from them and ultimately crashed into an oncoming vehicle.
He died at the scene, the Illinois State Police said.
