Candlewood Suites Hotel Being Built In Joliet

JOLIET, IL ? This summer, the economy in Joliet remains one of the strongest of any community in the state of Illinois, and another example of noteworthy economic development is taking place near the Interstate 80 Houbolt Road interchange.

The Candlewood Suites hotel is under construction along Joliet's Rock Creek Boulevard next to the Holiday Inn & Suites. Global Builders Inc. is the general contractor, and SDI Electric Group also has a banner displayed on the chain link fence on the perimeter of the property.

Joliet Patch first reported on plans to build an 80-room Candlewood Suites back in 2013, noting that the hotel would share a lobby area, outdoor patio garden, swimming pool and other amenities with the 120-room, five-story Holiday Inn Express.

Back in March during his annual state of the city speech, Joliet Mayor Bob O'Dekirk showed several slides to remind his audience of all the growth Joliet has experienced over the past year or so.

"I can tell you that the numbers are off the charts," O'Dekirk told everyone. "And I want to keep the momentum that we have in Joliet going. I want to keep the city on the upward trajectory that we have been on, and I certainly want to see through these projects that have begun. I want to see them through their completion."
