City Hall Outside Painting Project: Joliet May Choose Lowest 3 Of Contractor Bids

JOLIET, IL ? The Joliet City Council's Public Assets Committee will hold a meeting Thursday to review a proposal to spend more than $60,000 in city funds on a painting project for City Hall.
Blaine Kline, the city's facilities management director, is recommending Joliet award the City Hall exterior painting project to Cosgrove Construction Inc. in the amount of $61,375.00.
Kline's memo explains that City Hall was built in 1967 and it's located at 150 West Jefferson St. The structure is a combination of brick and concrete exterior, and the concrete exterior of the building hasn't been painted since 2015.

As part of a regular maintenance, it is recommended to paint the concrete exterior every 10 years, Kline pointed out. He said the exterior will be power washed and painted with two coats of paint, along with all window frames, light poles, and the transformer box. All colors will remain the same.
Kline noted that city of Joliet staff contacted three vendors to obtain quotes for the work and three returned proposals. Staff is recommending Cosgrove Construction Inc. in the amount of $61,375.00. The original projected estimates were $65,000.

The Public Assets Committee consists of Councilwoman Suzanna Ibarra, Chairperson Councilman Joe Clement and Councilman Juan Moreno.
The meeting will be at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday in the City Hall, Executive Conference Room.
