Country Star To Join Rock, Blues and Jazz Artists In Joliet Ceremony

JOLIET ? Illinois? Country music roots will share the spotlight along with the Prairie State?s connection to rock, blues and jazz during the 4th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony hosted by the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum on Route 66 in Joliet. The event will be on Sunday, October 20th starting at 6 p.m. at the historic Rialto Square Theatre in downtown Joliet, according to the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum's press release.

?The Class of ?24 continues to show our commitment to honoring all genres of music as well as the amazing talent whose roots can be traced to Illinois,? stated Ron Romero, the museum?s executive director and board chairman. ?We are proud to present Country artist Suzy Bogguss with the President?s Choice award along with her induction to the Hall of Fame.?

The Aledo, Illinois, country star began her career in the 1980s as a solo singer.

In the 1990s, 10 of her songs were Top 10 hits, three albums were certified gold, and one album received a platinum certification. Some of her biggest hits include ?Drive South,? ?Outbound Plane? and ?Someday Soon.?

Bogguss will be performing live at the event at the Rialto in October.

Ticket prices are $65, $55 and $45 each and are available now on the museum?s website at www.RoadToRock.org as well as www.RialtoSquare.com and at TicketMaster.

?What an unexpected honor to be included with these treasured Illinois natives and artists who have contributed so much to our musical landscape,? Bogguss said in Sunday's press release. ?I put a lot of miles on my camper chasing many of the past inductees around our state and others, learning what I could about the business and being a shameless fan girl. I?m beyond humbled in this company and grateful for the acknowledgment. Wow!?

The Smashing Pumpkins, Howlin? Wolf, Little Walter and Bo Diddley will also be inducted in the Artist/Performer category. George Thorogood is scheduled to appear for a special Hall of Fame Induction for Bo Diddley.

Vee-Jay Records will join the Hall of Fame in the Record Label category as well as the late Willie Dixon and Steve Goodman as Songwriters. Goodman was a student at Chicago?s Old Town School of Folk Music along with Bonnie Koloc and the late John Prine. Prine was inducted to the Hall of Fame last year.

Kolac and Singer/Performer Skip Griparis will team up for a live performance of several of Goodman?s songs including ?Go Cubs, Go? led by Ron Coomer, the radio voice of the Chicago Cubs. Coomer wants all Cubs fans in the audience to wear their Cubs clothing for the Goodman induction.

Bob Stroud, a hometown Classic Rock radio favorite, will be inducted for his decades of on-air work as a Radio Personality, and the legendary Big 10 WCFL enters the Hall of Fame in the Radio Station category with several former Super ?CFL DJ?s reuniting to accept the honor. WGN Radio?s Bob Sirott will return as Master of Ceremonies. Additional Hall of Fame events and live appearances from Illinois artists, broadcasters and journalists are being finalized and will be announced soon.
