Easter 2021 Near Joliet: Local Holy Week Celebrations
Here's how to participate in local religious celebrations both virtually and in-person.
JOLIET, IL — With Holy Week underway, several churches in Joliet are offering both in-person and virtual events for attendees to enjoy.
This week, residents can attend masses on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday, along with observing the stations of the cross.

St. Joseph Church — 700 Theodore St.,
St. Joseph Church on Good Friday will observe the stations of the cross at 2 p.m. Reservations are not required, but the church will be emptied for the 3 p.m. services, which are by appointment only.

The museum will also offer a drive-thru fish fry on Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Two pieces of cod, Slovenian potatoes, Cole slaw and bread will be available for $10.
Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus — 604 N Raynor Ave., Joliet
The Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus will also observe the stations of the cross at 6 p.m. on Good Friday.
St. Raymond Nonnatus also offers several other Holy Week events, although Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord's Supper and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament have sold out, along with its Good Friday and Easter Sunday masses and prayers.
Residents can still sign up to attend morning prayer, the blessing of Easter baskets and Easter Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday.
St. Raymond Nonnatus will livestream its Easter Masses in its parish commons, and communion will be distributed during the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Hopeful attendees should call 815-722-6653 to reserve seating.
The Church of St. Jude – 2212 McDonough St., Joliet
The Church of St. Jude on Thursday will hold Morning Prayer at 8 a.m., Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7:30 p.m. and adoration until midnight.
On Friday, the church will host morning prayer at 8 a.m. and a veneration of the cross and holy communion gathering at 3 p.m. Parishioners can observe the stations of the cross at 7 p.m.
On Holy Saturday, St. Jude will host morning prayer at 8 a.m., a blessing of food at 10 a.m. and a Great Vigil of Easter, for those with reservations, at 8 p.m.
Easter Sunday masses will be held at 8, 10 and 12 p.m. According to the church's website, the 10 a.m. service is full. Reservations can be made online.
St. Mary Immaculate Parish — 15629 South Route 59, Plainfield
St. Mary Immaculate Parish in Plainfield has also invited the community to pray the stations of the cross from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday. Attendees must register online in advance. The event is free.
St. Mary Nativity and Holy Cross — 706 N. Broadway St., Joliet
St. Mary Nativity and Holy Cross will each limit capacity to 5o people and will hold weekend and Easter masses in its parking lot. Services will be streamed through the radio at 96.9 FM
On Thursday, Saint Mary will host the Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7:30 p.m., and Holy Cross will host the mass at 7 p.m.
On Good Friday, St. Mary will hold a Liturgy of the Lord's Passion mass at 3 p.m. and a stations of the cross prayer at 7:30 p.m.
Holy Cross on Good Friday will pray the stations of the cross at noon in English and at 6:30 p.m. in Polish. The Liturgy of the Lord's Passion will be held at 7 p.m.
On Holy Saturday, St. Mary will bless food baskets at 12 p.m. and host a Solemn Easter Vigil Mass at 7:30 p.m. Holy Cross will host an English food basket blessing at 11 a.m. and blessings in Polish at 1, 2 and 3 p.m.
Holy Cross will host its Solemn Easter Vigil Mass at 8 p.m., followed by a resurrection procession.
Saint Andrew the Apostle — 530 Glen Avenue, Romeoville
During Holy Week, Saint Andrew the Apostle will not offer morning confession or adoration on Wednesday. Morning mass will not be offered on the Thursday, Friday or Saturday of Holy Week.
A trilingual Holy Thursday service will be offered at 7 p.m. followed on Friday by Good Friday services at 1 p.m. in Spanish, 3 p.m. in English and 7 p.m. in Polish. Easter baskets will be blessed at 11 a.m. in English and noon and 1 p.m. in Polish.
On Holy Saturday, Saint Andrew the Apostle will host a trilingual service at 8 p.m.
On Easter Sunday, a 6 a.m. Polish service will be offered followed by an 8 a.m. Spanish service. An English service will come at 10 a.m., and another Polish service will follow at noon.
St. Francis Xavier — 2500 Arbeiter Rd., Joliet
St. Francis Xavier will host a Holy Thursday service at 7 p.m. in its car park, followed by the stations of the cross at 7 p.m. on Good Friday.
Holy Saturday will bring with it a blessing of the Easter baskets at noon and an 8 p.m. vigil in the car park. On Easter Sunday, mass will be held in the car park at 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
