Family Liquor Replaces Joliet's Family Video Store
Family Liquor Beer Wine & Spirits moved into the former Family Video store that closed last October on Route 59 and Theodore Street.
JOLIET, IL —One of the Joliet' region's last Family Video stores closed at the end of October, but the property along Route 59 and Theodore Street did not stay empty very long.
On April 27, Family Liquors Beer Wine & Spirits opened for business at 1560 Route 59.
It's the same family that had owned and operated the United Liquor Joliet about a block away during the past 14 years. They decided to move their business to the former Family Video store, which is 5,800-square-feet, explained Brinda Soni, whose father, Mike, manages the liquor store.

"The bigger space, better parking, and it's a good spot on the corner," she said. "These were some of the main reasons."

Some businesses close during the holidays, but that won't be the case for Family Liquors.
It will remain open 365 days per year, the managers of Family Liquors told Patch during Monday's interview.
Family Liquors carries Pinches Miches, a premium Michelada mix, as well as several seltzers, plenty of vodkas and hard liquor products, the family-run business said.
"We have a good variety of craft beers," Brinda Soni said. "We have always been told we have a wide variety of products. We have good prices, and we do special orders for beer."
Family Liquors also sells kegs, but it asks customers to order them a week in advance.
The business is owned and operated by the Mukesh Soni family.
So how do the Sonis like their new location at the old Family Video?
"We are 100 percent happy," Mike Soni said. "All my customers say Mike did a great job."
