Of noteworthy importance, this marks the first time Joliet will no longer hold its annual 4th of July fireworks show at the Joliet Park District's Memorial Stadium property on Jefferson Street. That's because the park district installed FieldTurf on all its softball fields behind the Memorial Stadium, and the park district does not want to have the expensive fields ruined by burning embers from any fireworks.
