Glasgow Names Children’s Advocacy Center Vice President
Prosecutor Jeff Brown was also selected by Will County State's Attorney Him Glasgow to lead the Animal Protection Unit in his office.

Joliet, IL – This week, Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow announced Jeff Brown’s appointment as the new Vice President of the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Illinois (CACI). Brown, an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Sex Crimes Unit, was first appointed to the CACI Board last year.
The CACI is the chapter of the National Children’s Alliance organization that coordinates and supports Children’s Advocacy Centers across Illinois. The Will County Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), founded by Glasgow, is currently celebrating its 25th year anniversary. The Will County CAC was founded in order to provide hope, healing, and justice for all children who have been victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, sexual exploitation, children pornography, neglect, and/or exposed to violence.
“Our Children’s Advocacy Centers protect our most precious and most vulnerable resource – our children,” Glasgow said. “It is imperative that all of our Children’s Advocacy Centers are supported by compassionate, dedicated, knowledgeable, and committed individuals. I strongly supported Jeff’s appointment to the CACI Board in 2019, and it comes as no surprise that Jeff was the unanimous choice for Vice President.”

Glasgow has assigned Brown to the Will County CAC’s multidisciplinary team, which includes the following: law enforcement, DCFS investigators, forensic interviewers, child and family advocates, trauma therapists, medical personnel, and prosecutors. The Will County CAC has served approximately 8,900 children throughout the county since Glasgow first founded the center in 1995.
“The children of Illinois deserve to wake up in the morning and go to bed at night without fear of being abused,” Brown said. “I want to thank State’s Attorney Glasgow for giving me the opportunity to protect those who are not able to protect themselves. Serving as Vice President of the CACI provides an opportunity to work on behalf of children at an even broader level. It is an honor to be selected for this position by this highly respected organization.”

According to Will County CAC Executive Director Lisa Las, “Jeff is dedicated to protecting the most vulnerable members of society, and I am thrilled that he is able to use his passionate expertise to support and sustain Illinois' CACs.”
In addition to his commitment to protecting children, Brown was also selected by Glasgow to lead the Animal Protection Unit in the State’s Attorney’s office. The unit was created together with “The League of Extraordinary Canines & Fries,” which is a nationwide initiative Glasgow created to address animal cruelty and neglect with the ultimate goal of also protecting humans.
Brown also currently serves as the Will County CAC’s dog handler for Kiwi, the therapy dog. Kiwi is also one of the canines in Glasgow’s Paws for Kids program that provides support for children receiving services at the Will County CAC.
“Children and animals are defenseless and we have a moral imperative to protect them. On a daily basis, Jeff Brown stands up for both,” Glasgow said. “Jeff will be a tremendous resource for Will County as Vice President of the CACI Board.”
