IDOT plans to share more information about the project through the website and obtain input from the public.

Joliet, IL - In conjunction with the City of Joliet, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has enhanced the Interstate 55 Access Study website and made it more interactive. The website, i55atil59accessproject.org, is IDOT’s alternative to traditional public meetings and will allow the public to learn more about the project.
Through the website, the public is encouraged to offer input and comments about the initial engineering and environmental studies for the project. Additionally, the website will be used for IDOT to provide status updates and discuss overall next steps.
The Interstate 55 Access Study area is in western Will County, particularly within Shorewood and Joliet, and covers about 6.5 square miles. It is bounded by Interstate 80, U.S. 52 (Jefferson Street, Houbolt Road and River Road.
