'Kickboxer' Shoots Car At PS Fuels Gas Station: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet officer arrested 19-year-old Amarion Denwiddie on Tuesday afternoon after police say he aimed his gun at a car and fired his weapon, shooting one of the tires. The incident happened at the PS Fuels gas station on West Jefferson Street. Denwiddie ran from the scene and hid in somebody's garage, according to police.

A Joliet police officer and a K9 were able to find Denwiddie hiding in a garage, according to police.

He was arrested and booked into the Will County Jail on charges including unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, possession of controlled substances, aggravated discharge of a gun, aggravated battery to a police officer, criminal damage to state supported property, obstructing justice, obstructing identification and two Will County arrest warrants for robbery.

According to Joliet police, officers were notified that someone had fired a gun at a vehicle around 12:20 p.m. at the PS Fuels station. Denwiddie, according to police, fired the gun after getting into an argument with two women at the gas station.

"As the victims pulled away in a vehicle, the suspect fired the handgun at the vehicle, striking it near the tire," Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English said.

Joliet police began looking for Denwiddie in the 100 block of North Raynor Avenue, since that's where he lives.

"Denwiddie fled on foot from officers, only to be located by a Joliet PD K9 hiding with additional individuals in a garage in the 200 block of North Raynor Avenue," police reports show.

Officers determined that two juveniles with Denwiddie had active arrest warrants, and they were placed into custody without incident, police reported.

"During transport to the Joliet Police Department, Denwiddie began kicking the interior of a squad car while threatening to physically harm officers, stating he was a kickboxer," English stated. "While in the Joliet Police Department booking area, Denwiddie spat on an officer and kicked a thermostat from the wall. Denwiddie continued to refuse to cooperate with the booking process and was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility."

Will County Jail logs indicate that Denwiddie's bail is now set at $110,000.
