Walmart Coronavirus Testing: New Operating Hours, Days

JOLIET, IL — The drive-thru coronavirus testing site at the Walmart Supercenter’s parking lot at 2424 W. Jefferson St. in Joliet will have updated operating hours and days later this week. The updates including the following:

  • Through Wednesday, May 13, the testing site will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting.
  • Beginning Friday, May 15, the testing site will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.

The testing site – supported by Walmart, eTrueNorth, and state and local officials – is available for anyone who meets CDC and state and local guidelines on who should be tested. That includes first responders, healthcare providers, those in high risk groups without symptoms, and anyone exhibiting symptoms of the coronavirus.

People interested in testing can sign up for an appointment on eTrueNorth’s online portal at www.DoINeedACOVID19Test.com to determine if they are eligible for testing and to schedule an appointment.

Here are additional details on the COVID-19 testing site:

  • Those being tested are required to wear masks and remain in their vehicles for verification of eligibility criteria, an ID check, and the self-administered test. The test site is not available to those who walk up for the safety of everyone on-site.
  • Those being tested will be given a self-administered nasal swab for their nose while being observed by a trained medical volunteer to ensure they are administering the test correctly. The sealed sample will then be dropped into a container while exiting out of the drive-thru site.
  • The testing site is available for all ages.
  • The site is staffed by Walmart healthcare professionals. eTrueNorth is handling the processing of test samples and providing results to those being tested as well as the appropriate Departments of Health.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Testing is not available inside Walmart stores.
  • Individuals awaiting test results are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines and take steps to help prevent the spreading of the virus in their home and community.
