Obituary: Roy A. Robb

25-year Electro-Motive employee and Notre Dame and Kansas City Chiefs fan, served with the Army Reserves Ordnance Corps.

Roy Allen Robb, age 83, passed away peacefully with his wife, Janet, by his side at his Shorewood residence, Saturday, June 26, 2021.

Born June 30, 1937 in Wilmington, he was the son of Harry and Inez (Huston) Robb. He was raised in Wilmington and was a graduate of Wilmington High School, Class of 1956, and received his Associate’s degree from Joliet Junior College in Business Management.

Roy served in the United States Army Reserves Ordnance Corps from 1955-1963. For ten years he worked as a production manager for Johnson & Johnson, before joining the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors in LaGrange, IL where he served as a buyer for 25 years until his retirement.

An avid University of Notre Dame and Kansas City Chiefs football fan, he took with him many happy memories of time spent with family and friends camping, canoeing, hiking, and enjoying huge picnics at his home.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Janet (Populorum) Robb; sister-in-law, Karen Robb, many nieces and nephews, Debbie (Joe) Schultz, Kevin (Kim) Delaney, Dennis (Raette) Delaney, Mike (Monica) Schultz, Christopher (April) Delaney, Lisa (Mike) Bess, Lauren (Shane) Delaney, Alan (Chardell) Smallwood, Lynda Husong, Diana (Steve) Turpin, Dawn (Tom) Perkins, David (Barbara) Robb, Keith Populorum, and Vicky Lyons; and the added bonus of many great nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife’s parents, Ed and Vi Populorum; brothers, Harry (Karen) Robb, Jr., and Robert Simmons; sisters, Doris (Leonard) Hack, Ruth (Lee) Jacklin, and Shirley (Edward) Delaney; brother-in-law, Richard (Patricia) Populorum; and a nephew, Joe Schultz.

A Memorial Gathering for Roy Robb will be held Friday, July 16, 2021 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet, where a Memorial Service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be private.
