Virginia C. Stankiewicz
Age 87, a former long-time resident of Frankfort, IL, passed away on June 5, 2021, at Rock Run Place, Joliet, IL. She was born June 16, 1933, in Chicago, IL to the late Martin and Cecilia Dybalski.

She earned her Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from Marquette University. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Iowa State University and earned a Master’s Degree from the University of IL- Chicago.
Virginia was very accomplished in the Dental Hygiene field. She worked in private practice for over 20 years. She went on to help establish the Dental Hygiene Program at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, IL, where she earned the Pioneer Pillar of the Community Award. She also served as president of the Illinois Dental Hygienist Association and would administer competency assessments for the oral health professions through NERB.

She is survived by her son, Paul (Laura) Stankiewicz of Plainfield, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Iwon Stankiewicz.
Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Stankiewicz Dental Hygiene Scholarship, Prairie State College Foundation, Health/Tech Center. 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights, IL 60411.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 9, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, IL. The funeral Service will be Thursday, June 10, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip, IL.
