Plainfield Woman Stabs Victim In Joliet, Cleans Blood Off Knife: Joliet Police
Jane Young, 43, has been charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery. She also has a 2018 aggravated battery conviction.

JOLIET, IL ? The Joliet Police Department responded to the Riverwalk Homes property in the 300 block of North Broadway Street for a non-fatal stabbing that sent a man to St. Joe's hospital. As for the assailant, Joliet police arrested 43-year-old Plainfield resident Jane Young on charges of domestic battery and aggravated battery.
After hearing the prosecution's evidence, Will County Judge Chrystel Gavlin ruled that Young will stay in the Will County Jail under the SAFE-T-Act.
According to the petition, Joliet police officers Meza and Novak were called to the Riverwalk Homes at 12:42 a.m. Aug. 22. The security guards at Riverwalk Homes advised of an assault and stabbing and that EMS were needed immediately.

In front of Building 362, officers found a man who told them he was just stabbed by his girlfriend with a steak knife, police said. Officers saw blood coming from the middle of his back and shoulder area. The victim told Joliet police that Young was intoxicated and at their apartment, court records state.
After the victim was taken by ambulance to St. Joe's hospital, Joliet police found Young in an apartment, using a walker. She claimed her face hurt and that she was twice hit in the right eye, according to police. Young told officers she was in a heated argument with the victim and tried to stop him from punching her, or she would stab him, court files show.

When the victim continued to punch her, Young claimed she grabbed a knife by the kitchen and stabbed him. When he pushed her again, she stabbed him again and he ran from the apartment, the court documents show.
At that point, Young locked the door, cleaned the blood off the knife and returned the knife to the knife holder, prosecutors said.
Young has a prior Will County conviction from 2018 for aggravated battery.
Jail logs had Young listed as being a Plainfield resident from South Red Clover Lane.
