St. Joe's Baseball to host 3rd Summer Sendoff Tournament

St. Joe's Baseball has published the information for their 3rd Annual Summer Sendoff Tournament and expanded it to include 9U & 10U teams.

St. Joe's Baseball is proud to announce that they have scheduled their third annual Summer Sendoff Tournament. Prior to this year, the Summer Sendoff was exclusively for 8U teams. This year St. Joe's will be expanding the tournament to include 9U & 10U divisions as well. St. Joe's Pony Baseball Commissioner, Digger Blackburn said "We are very excited to expand the tournament this year. We look forward to having the teams from the last two years come back and compete again. For St. Joe's, player growth and development are our biggest priorities. A chance for our older teams to meet teams from the previous two years was an opportunity that we could not pass up." St. Joe's has been one of the premier youth baseball organizations in the Joliet area since 1940 when Monsignor Butala, from St. Joseph's Parish on Chicago Street, decided that our local kids needed a place to play baseball. St. Joe's has grown from the original two fields on the grounds of the St. Joe's Parish Hall to five fields. Through an agreement with the Joliet Park District, St. Joe's utilizes the park district fields on the grounds of the Glen Marcum Garnsey Park, as well as the addition of a tee ball field on the original. Since the 1940's St. Joe's has been blessed to have some very incredible young men and women play for their organization. Some notable St. Joe's alumni include current US Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, John Lausch, Kevin Cameron, a retired MLB player who played for San Diego and Oakland. Sportscaster and NCSU National Champion basketball player Terry Gannon played for St. Joe's and was a player on the 1976 & 1978 teams who placed 2nd overall in the Bronco & Pony Championships. Eric Parker, former NFL player for the San Diego Chargers, was a member of the 1993 Pony World Series Championship team. St. Joe's Pony Baseball is currently registering for their 2019 Spring Season the 79th year that baseball has been played at St. Joe's.
