'Support Melissa's Children In Their Time Of Need': GoFundMe

JOLIET ?Three days after Pandola Avenue resident Melissa Aud-Headlee was stabbed to death outside in her Joliet subdivision by her 32-year-old estranged husband, Michael Aud-Headlee, a friend is organizing a GoFundMe trying to collect $5,000 in Melissa's memory.
"Hello, my name is Susan and I am raising funds for one of my daycare moms who tragically lost her life through domestic violence," Susan James announced in her GoFundMe, which is called "Support Melissa's Children in Their Time of Need."
According to James, Saturday's Joliet murder victim has three beautiful children now left without a mom.

"Melissa was a very happy, bubbly person who had gone through a lot in life and was overcoming that, she was a wonderful mom, and now I am asking for help for her three kids. Any amount will help. They are so young and will need so much," James wrote.
On Monday, Joliet Patch reported that after obtaining her second order of protection against her estranged husband in late November, Melissa Aud-Headlee hired a Joliet law firm to file divorce papers in January at the Will County Courthouse.

On Saturday morning, the 35-year-old Joliet mother of three was slain in front of her house on Pandola Avenue, fatally stabbed by her estranged husband, who then took his own life at the end of the driveway, according to Joliet police.
Documents at the Will County Courthouse indicate the 32-year-old Michael Aud-Headlee terrorized his estranged wife on numerous occasions during their marriage of four years. The couple married in Joliet on Sept. 13, 2019.
Court documents indicate that Michael Aud-Headlee was residing in Carmi, which is about 5 hours south of Joliet, near Carbondale. The married couple had one child together, a 3-year-old boy who was inside the home at the time of Saturday's murder-suicide, according to police.
