Sweet Corn Stand At Hey! Hot Dog: 'Oh Yeah, It's Really Good'
Hey! Hot Dog owner and Shorewood area farmer B.J. Uedelhofen hopes to keep his popular sweet corn stand open until early October.

JOLIET, IL ? For the first time in 2022, there are cars pulling into the Hey! Hot Dog restaurant parking lot on Joliet's Ruby Street and not everyone is ordering root beer, hot dogs or the Polish sausage.
This week, the sweet corn stand is back in the parking lot of Hey! Hot Dog.
As many long-time customers know, Hey! Hot Dog owner B.J. Uedelhofen is also a Shorewood area farmer. Uedelhofen told Joliet Patch that he's had his sweet corn stand in his parking lot for 10 years.

During Thursday's interview, Patch asked Uedelhofen how this summer's sweet corn harvest turned out.
"Oh yeah, it's really good," he proclaimed.
Starting this Saturday, Uedelhofen will also have his second sweet corn stand set up.
That one is in Shorewood along Black Road. It's in the gravel parking lot of a septic company, east of River Road.
"We'll have corn every day except Sunday," Uedelhofen said of both locations.
So many how ears of sweet corn does Uedelhofen have right now at Hey! Hot Dog?
"No idea," he answered. "We just fill up these bins. The machine we have will pick 780 dozen in an hour, so it does a pretty good job."

Sweet corn isn't the only farm produce Hey! Hot Dog has to offer.
In the coming days and weeks, the sweet corn stand will be adding Uedelhofen's freshly picked green beans, zucchini, Pickling cucumbers, beets, tomatoes, green peppers and watermelons.
Uedelhofern said he is selling a half dozen ears of sweet corn for $4 or a dozen for $8.
During Thursday late afternoon's interview, more people seemed to be pulling into the Hey! Hot Dog to buy sweet corn rather than grabbing a late lunch.
"We just have a really good response from customers," Uedelhofen said. "Everyone's really happy so far."
