Troy Trojan Wrestling Team Places 1st At Tournament
Win at Dale Keith Invite added to the Trojan's overall record of 13-1

The Troy Trojan Wrestling Team, of William B. Orenic Intermediate School and Troy Middle School, placed first at the Dale Keith Invite on February 1 and 2, held at Lukancic Middle School. The win added to their overall dual record of 13-1 for the season so far.
According to Head Coach Joe Jaeger, 16 teams competed at the tournament. Jaeger said the competition was held the week after school was closed for three weather-related days.
“Not being able to practice for an entire week can make wrestlers lose a step,” Jaeger said. “However, all 19 of our wrestlers that started at the tournament held their own. I knew they would be able to compete at a high level, but to take first place has given me new expectations for my talented wrestlers.”

“The Wrestling Team students and coaches deserve a lot of respect for their hard work and discipline,” said Troy 30-C Athletic Director Meagan DeGroot. “They are the last ones to leave Troy on the week days and the first ones to arrive before the sun comes up on the weekends. And what is more outstanding is their ability to work hard while keeping up their grades.”
Team members who participated were 6th graders Noah Avina (1st in his weight class), Jonah Maldonado (4th), Colin Morgan (4th), Adrian Hernandez (5th), Keagan Alvarez (6th) and Nicholas Ronchetti.
