2 Schools Closed May 31 By Power Outage Following Storms
Strong thunderstorms in the Glen Burnie area on Thursday have knocked out power to 2 schools, which are closed May 31.
GLEN BURNIE, MD — Two Anne Arundel County Public Schools in Glen Burnie are closed Friday, May 31, because of area-wide power outages, officials said. Corkran Middle School at 7600 Quarterfield Road in Glen Burnie, and Richard Henry Lee Elementary School at 400 A St. SW in Glen Burnie are without power.
Students at Corkran Middle School who are already on buses will be taken to the school and arrangements will be made to return them to their bus stops as soon as possible, the school system said. Those students will be supervised while they are at school, and parents may also opt to pick them up there.
BGE crews are working to restore power in the area following Thursday's storms; parts of the county were under a tornado warning in the afternoon.
