3 Brothers Win $100K With Lottery Scratch Ticket

The Glen Burnie brothers plan to invest their winnings in their new business.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Three brothers-in-law, all in their early 30s, are celebrating big after winning $100,000 on the new 50X The Cash scratch-off game. The new business owners are grateful, they said, because the win will help boost their bottom line.

Dolendra Paudel, Dipak Rijal and Jeevan Sharma, all from Glen Burnie, do more than just play the lottery together. They all married sisters and traveled to the United States from Nepal seven years ago. They teamed up as the new owners of Crackpot Liquors and Crackpot Restaurant and enjoy playing scratch-offs together.

While on a break from work, the trio stopped at EZ Convenience & Deli in Towson to play some of their favorite scratch-off games. They purchased numerous games, including the 50X The Cash scratch-off and played them in the store. Jeevan scratched off the $10 winning instant ticket. When he revealed a matching number and the $100,000 prize underneath, Jeevan was in shock.

“It didn’t sink in what just happened, so I scanned the ticket in the store,” Jeevan told the Maryland Lottery. “I still didn’t believe it. I thought ‘This machine must be broken.’ ”

Jeevan took the scratch-off to Dolendra and Dipak, who were waiting outside the store, to show them the $100,000 top-prize win.

“It was unbelievable,” said Dolendra. “I scanned the ticket using my phone to check it again."

After sharing the news with their families, the trio then headed to Lottery headquarters to claim the prize. After taxes, each brother takes home $22,126.50.
