GLEN BURNIE, MD — An Anne Arundel County resident who loves bingo scratch-off tickets hit the jackpot when she won $500,000 with a Bonus Bingo X20 instant ticket she bought at a Glen Burnie business. The retail worker told Maryland Lottery officials she favors bingo scratch-offs because deciphering the game’s puzzle style is a "fun way to pass the time in the evening."

According to the Maryland Lottery, the woman first revealed the game’s caller’s numbers and then worked her way through the scratch-off’s 10 bingo cards. As she filled in the numbers, her bingo cards kept narrowly missing a win. She was just one number away from completing a line or four corners, an X or a diamond. She kept coming close, but still wasn't winning.

Then finally, she matched three numbers and the free spot to complete a diamond shape on the final card. When the loyal player checked the prize legend, she was floored by the $500,000 prize listed beside it. The scratch-off fan plans to use the prize to pay bills and "live comfortably." She bought her winning instant ticket from Honey Bee Liquors located at 7509 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. For selling a top-prize winning instant ticket of $100,000 or more, the retailer earned a $1,000 bonus from the lottery.
