AAA School Safety Patroller In Glen Burnie Honored

Julie Sidlowski of Glen Burnie was honored as a 2018 Outstanding Maryland AAA School Safety Patroller.

From AAA Mid-Atlantic Foundation: AAA’s Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education, joined by family, school and law enforcement officials, honored 11 elementary school-aged AAA School Safety Patrollers from across Maryland for their dedication and service at the annual awards ceremony in Pikesville. Among the honorees was Julie Sidlowski, a student at Monsignor Slade Catholic School in Glen Burnie.

The honorees, nominated by their school, have excelled in their duties and gone above and beyond the line of duty on a regular basis. Each student received a $100 VISA gift card, a Wegmans gift card, and a plaque recognizing their accomplishments.

Established in 1920, the AAA School Safety Patrol is one of AAA’s oldest programs. More than 600,000 children throughout the country participate in the program by protecting their classmates from traffic hazards on their way to and from school. Over 93,000 patrollers alone are in the mid-Atlantic region, with nearly 30,000 in Maryland. Many famous Americans have held the position of AAA School Safety Patrol, including former President Jimmy Carter, Vice President Joe Biden, and Olympic Track and Field Gold Medalist Edwin Moses.
