Two Robberies, Including One Involving Gun, Reported Sunday

Three men reportedly robbed a taxi driver at gunpoint in the 7800 block of Americana Circle on Sunday afternoon.

Glen Burnie: Armed Robbery

Three men robbed a taxi driver after he drove two of them to Americana Circle on New Year's Day, police said.

Police responded to the 7800 block of Americana Circle at about 4:20 p.m. Sunday and spoke with a cab driver who told them three men—believed to be between ages 16 and 21—had just robbed him, according to a police press release.

The cab driver said he picked up two of the suspects on Liberty Circle and drove them to Americana Circle. One of the suspects got out of the car, saying he needed to go get money for the fare. Then a third suspect approached the cab, pulled a handgun and demanded money. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and all three ran from the scene, police said.

Officers and a K-9 unit searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects, police said.

Glen Burnie: Robbery

A man robbed a 50-year-old woman in the parking lot of a Glen Burnie Giant Food grocery store Sunday afternoon, police said.

According to a police press release, officers responded to the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway at about 12:20 p.m. Sunday for a reported robbery. They spoke with a woman who said she was walking in the parking lot when a man approached her from behind and attempted to steal the woman's purse.

After a struggle, the man took the woman's purse and ran from the area. The woman was not injured during the incident, police said.

Officers searched the area but were unable to find the man.
