When the poll closed at 9 a.m. Friday and I saw that Friendly's won by a pretty good margin, receiving 32 percent of the vote, I decided I'd drop by the restaurant to check out the great breakfast deal that Sarah F referred to in the comments.

For $2.99 you can get the Big-Two-Do breakfast at Friendly's—two eggs made to order, two strips of bacon or sausage and your choice between two slices of toast, two pancakes or two slices of French toast. Not bad right?

I went for two eggs "over medium," two pieces of bacon and two slices of wheat toast—with a cup of coffee, of course. It's rare that a restaurant gets my "over medium" egg order correct, but my eggs were just the way I wanted them. I was definitely pleased with the place that I didn't even know served breakfast until last week.

The restaurant also offers a full breakfast menu ranging from breakfast sandwiches to huevos rancheros.

I asked general manager Vickie Belcher what it was about breakfast at Friendly's that she thought earned them the most votes.

"We have a lot of regular customers here. I had a customer say to me the other day, 'It's just like one big family,'" she said. "My employees know the customers and the customers know my employees. And the $2.99 breakfast doesn't hurt."
