Bikeways Grant Awarded to Extend BWI Trail
The state awarded a $300,000 grant for the design of an extension of the BWI Trail to the Nursery Road Light Rail station.

As part of a new Maryland Bikeways Program, Gov. Martin O'Malley announced Tuesday that $300,000 in grant money will go to design the extension of the BWI Trail to the Nursery Road Light Rail station in Pumphrey.
The money will be used to design the 1.4-mile extension of the BWI Trail to the north, according to a press release from O'Malley's office.
“These grants are a great way to help local jurisdictions make key connections to build a more comprehensive bike network that will benefit our citizens,” O’Malley said in a press release. “By getting out and taking a bike ride, we can learn to enjoy more of Maryland’s natural treasures, help reduce the impact on the land, improve our fitness and well-being and enhance our quality of life.”
