Police Take Cornelius Johnson into Custody on First-Degree Murder Charges

Police arrested , 24, who has been charged with the first-degree murder of 25-year-old , after he was transported Monday to the Northern District Police Station. The two are reported to be half-brothers.

Cornelius Johnson was served a warrant at about 5:45 p.m. Monday after serving a weekend sentence in Baltimore County on an unrelated charge, police said.

According to a police press release, when officials at the Baltimore County Detention Center checked Cornelius Johnson's warrant status at the end of his weekend sentence, they learned Anne Arundel police sought him in connection with the Nov. 13 murder.

He still was being held without bail at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Annapolis as of 9:45 a.m. Tuesday.

According to a police press release, officers responded to the parking lot of , located in the 7100 block of Ritchie Highway, at about 10:35 p.m. Nov. 13 for a reported shooting.

Once on the scene, officers discovered Andrew Johnson outside in the parking lot. He apparently was shot in the upper torso, police said. Andrew Johnson was taken to Harbor Hospital, where he later died.

On Nov. 14, police issued a warrant for the arrest of Cornelius Johnson of Baltimore in connection with the murder of Andrew Johnson.

Court records show that both Andrew and Cornelius Johnson previously lived at the same Glen Burnie address, according to The Capital.
