Crews Work To Repair Water Main Break on Ritchie

An Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works spokesman said the repairs could last into Monday afternoon.

UPDATED (11:34 a.m.)—Some Glen Burnie residents reported being without water after a water main break Monday morning in the 7400 block of Ritchie Highway.

Crews were on the scene as of 11 a.m. Monday and working to repair the break, said Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works spokesman Matt Diehl.

The 8-inch main is in a tricky location, with crews needing to perform extensive excavation, Diehl said.

"Once they can dig down and isolate it, they can make the repairs," he said, adding that water service would be restored after the repairs are made. "It could take three to four hours, but they are working as fast as possible."

The main feeds water into multiple directions, so he said he was unable to estimate the number of residents impacted.
