A fire at a row house in Brooklyn Park Sunday morning displaced five adults and two children, according to Lt. Cliff Kooser, Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman.
The fire, at 4914 Brookwood Road, was caused by a malfunctioning furnace. The residents had storage items placed against the furnace, which also ignited.

It took 24 firefighters 11 minutes to get the fire under control.
There were no working smoke detectors in the home and no injuries were reported.
Kooser urged residents to check their smoke detector batteries and to make sure there is at least one working smoke detector in the home.

Glen Burnie: Drug Arrest
A Glen Burnie man was arrested Thursday after police found crack and marijuana in his apartment through a search warrant.
Lamotte Timothy Johnson, 29, was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a police press release, officers responded to the 400 block of Woodlake Court at 8:30 p.m. to execute a search warrant that concluded an investigation into drug activity in the apartment.
Detectives seized about 68 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, $5,375 in cash and a 2001 Dodge Neon.
Brooklyn Park:
Police arrested three men Thursday on charges of transporting a handgun in a vehicle after pulling them over for a routine traffic violation in Brooklyn Park.
According to an Anne Arundel County Police press release, officers pulled over an older model Chevy Malibu with three passengers at about 7:05 p.m. because of an issue with the car's registration near Ritchie Highway North and Church Street in Brooklyn Park.
During the traffic stop, a procedural warrant check showed that one of the passengers had an outstanding warrant. Police said they also smelled a faint odor of marijuana from inside the car, according to a press release.
Police searched the car and found a small amount of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia and a .38-caliber Smith and Wesson revolver, according to the release.
All three passengers in the car were arrested.
Eduard Baxter, 24, and Kenneth Davis, 20, both of Severn, were charged with transporting a handgun in a vehicle. Akeem Belvin of Brooklyn Park, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Glen Burnie:
After a little more than 12 hours, police took Derontay Lee Simms, 20, back into custody late Wednesday night and he was served a warrant for second-degree escape.
Simms was located by Anne Arundel County Police officers and Baltimore Police officers in the area of Marbourne Avenue and Hollins Ferry Road in Baltimore and took him into custody without incident.
The two agencies received information from the Annapolis Police Department that Anne Arundel police said played a "pivotal role in assisting for the search," county police said in a press release.
Simms was serving nine months at the Ordnance Road Correctional Center in Glen Burnie on second-degree assault charges, according to online court documents. Simms had been in custody since May and was scheduled to be discharged in January or February 2012, according to Terry Kokolis, superintendent of Anne Arundel County Department of Detention Facilities.
Glen Burnie:
A man was hit by a landscaping truck at about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday as he crossed the street in the area of Mountain and Freetown roads in Glen Burnie, police said.
The man was wearing dark clothes and was not in a crosswalk, according to Anne Arundel County Police Lt. Michael Brothers. Brothers said the driver stayed at the scene of the accident and that officers from the traffic safety unit were investigating the incident.
According to Anne Arundel County Fire spokesman Chief Michael Cox, the victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
The man's exact age was not yet known.
Glen Burnie: Fall
A 60-year-old man was hospitalized after he fell from a ladder while working on his home at 301 Key Avenue around 1:18 p.m. Wednesday, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Steve Thompson.
The man was taken to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
