Driver Identified in Wednesday's Police Chase, Fatal Crash in Pasadena

Police said Brian L. McNutt, 50, of Glen Burnie was the man driving the truck involved in a police chase and subsequent crash that resulted in his death.

(MSP) have identified Brian L. McNutt, 50, of Glen Burnie as the man behind the wheel of a Dodge Dakota involved in a .

Police were able to identify McNutt from his fingerprints. According to a police press release, McNutt's license had been revoked in Maryland since at least 2008. Police said they believe McNutt borrowed the truck from the owner, both of whom had the same address on Stiemly Avenue.

As of Thursday afternoon, police had not yet determined a motive for McNutt's "erratic and dangerous driving behavior" on Wednesday, but said the medical examiner's office was conducting forensic and toxicology tests.

At about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, an MSP trooper saw McNutt swerving back and forth within a travel lane as he sat on the shoulder of southbound Route 10 just south of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie. McNutt lost control of the Dakota, spinning a full 360 degrees.

When the trooper turned the emergency lights on his cruiser, police said McNutt sped off, continued to drive erratically and eventually hit a tree along Route 100 near Catherine Avenue in Pasadena. Emergency personnel declared him dead on the scene.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
