Fire Department Investigating Fatal Brooklyn Park Blaze

Fire officials have not announced the cause of a mobile home fire last week that led to a man's death.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department investigators are looking into a June 9 mobile home fire in Brooklyn Park that injured the sole occupant, causing him to die five days later.

At 9:30 a.m. on June 9, firefighters responded to a reported fire and pulled out a man who had suffered second- and third-degree burns to his arms and upper torso, according to a department press release.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire and transported the man to Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center.

The victim, identified as Brice B. Clements, 72, eventually died on June 14. This is the fourth fire-related fatality in Anne Arundel County this year, according to the statement.

Investigators said the fire originated in the bedroom of the mobil home and was too small to activate the smoke alarms.
