Force Main Break Causes Wastewater Overflow In Glen Burnie
A break in a bypass pipe along Solley Road caused a 60,000-gallon wastewater overflow Tuesday evening in Glen Burnie.
GLEN BURNIE, MD — A break in a bypass pipe caused a 60,000-gallon wastewater overflow Tuesday evening in Glen Burnie. The bypass pipe was installed by contractors working to replace air release valves to a force main located along Solley Road.
Signs alerting the community have been posted and the area was cleaned and limed after the incident. The Maryland Department of Environment and the County Department of Health were notified.
The department of public works and the health department determined that the overflow did not reach or impact any waterway, the county noted. People who came into contact with the affected ground are advised to wash well with soap and warm water; clothing should also be washed.
