UPDATED: Former Archbishop Spalding Coach Charged With Child Pornography
Brian Timothy Funk, 40, of Pasadena turned himself in Sunday after a warrant was issued for his arrest stemming from accusations of sexting with a minor.

Former track coach Brian Timothy Funk, 40, of Pasadena turned himself in to police Sunday after being informed of child pornography charges against him, police said.
Funk was charged with one count of child pornography and one count of display of an obscene item to a minor.
According to police, a July complaint led to an investigation that determined Funk had exchanged sexually explicit images via cell phones, also known as sexting, with a minor girl. A release from Anne Arundel County Police said Funk reportedly attended a movie with a female student and "allegations suggested that a possible relationship existed."

While Funk coached for Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Sean Caine, of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, said Funk was not an employee.
"Brian Funk was not an employee of Archbishop Spalding High School," Caine told Patch. "He coached there for the 2009-10 and 2010-11 school years."

The school will send a letter out to families today, Caine said.
WJLA reported that Catholic University offered Funk a position as a cross county track coach but said the college stated that Funk withdrew from the position and never assumed his duties.
According to the state attorney's office, the penalty for a conviction of child porn is 10 years and/or $25,000 for a first offense and for the display of an obscene item to a minor charge, the penalty is one year or $1,000.
"There is no indication of any other victims at this time. We certainly urge any other potential victims to come forward and contact the police department," said a police spokesman to Patch in an email.
A representative from Archbishop Spalding said the school had no comment.
Funk has written for several Patch sites in the past.
