Former Former Delegate Must Pay $92K for Drunk Boating Accident

Don Dwyer Jr. of Pasadena served jail time on weekends for a separate drunk driving offense.

Former Delegate Don Dwyer Jr. has been ordered to pay a victim of a 2012 boating crash about $92,000 for medical bills and ailments.

The Capital-Gazette reports a judge has ordered Dwyer to pay Earl Mitchell of Pasadena for injuries to his shoulder, neck, mouth, and head suffered in the crash on the Magothy River.

Dwyer served 60 days in jail, on weekends, for drunken driving, Patch previously reported.

He will also serve three years of probation for the drunken boating offense. Seven people were injured when Dwyer was at the wheel of his 27-foot powerboat named “The Legislator” and it collided with another vessel in the river.

Nearly a year later, Dwyer was arrested for drunken driving after being spotted driving erratically in Pasadena. Dwyer told the officer he had had two beers prior to driving and he was returning home after being at a tavern in Baltimore City. He refused a breathalyzer test.
