Gas Leak Thursday Shut Down Ordnance Road

One driver ignored the barricades, leading to a police pursuit into Prince George's County.

A bank and Chuck E. Cheese restaurant were evacuated Thursday after a contractor struck a gas line in the area and caused a leak, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Chief Michael Cox.

The 4-inch, high pressure, gas line at 6708 Ritchie Highway was breeched around 11:55 a.m. Cox said. Fire department crews blocked off the area and evacuated the Wells Fargo Bank where the gas line is located and a nearby Chuck E. Cheese.

Crews were on the scene until 6 p.m. when BGE officials were able to stop the leak, Cox said.
